ICBI’s technology has breached the BBB in Alzheimer’s transgenic mouse model. This recent discovery has been validated by world renowned UCSD neuroscientist, Dr. Eliezer Masliah. The successful development of our technology now opens doors not only for treating brain diseases but also other diseases that have been so far impossible to treat.

The blood-brain barrier (BBB) has presented an insurmountable global medical problem that has paralyzed research efforts towards the development of diagnostics and therapeutics for brain diseases. A handful of FDA-approved, small-molecule, BBB-permeable drugs that slow down the symptoms of nuerodegeneration in some patients do little to treat or modify the disease, and stop working after some period, leaving the patient helpless. That is why our friends and relatives inflicted with the brain disease frequently keep changing their medicines, only to realize after some time that they have exhausted all of the available drugs. On the other hand, many potential, modern large-molecule drugs such as engineered proteins (e.g.: nerve growth factors), antibodies, vectors, micro-RNA, Si-RNA, and ribozymes, which are otherwise effective in ex-vivo studies, have had to be discarded during their development for clinical use due to a failure to deliver them in sufficient quantity to the CNS.
