Dr. Ram Bhatt, Ph.D., Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and Founder ICBI

Dr. Bhatt is a veteran of the Biotech industry with more than 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies and has held several scientific and managerial positions. Dr. Bhatt's pharmaceutical career began in 1981 at Hoffman-La Roche, New Jersey, where he worked for 4 years as an Assistant Research Group Chief in the Department of Molecular Biology. He and his group developed blockbuster pharmaceuticals such as human IL-2, gamma-Interferon and hGHRF (Human Growth Hormone Releasing Factor). Dr. Bhatt's diagnostic career began in 1985 at Gen-Probe, where he held various managerial positions including Sr. Research Scientist and Director of Chemistry R&D. At Gen-Probe, he developed all the key components of Gen-Probe's HPA technology, upon which the company's $500M/year commercial diagnostic revenue is based on. Gen-Probe's diagnostic for STDs has been a phenomenal success. In his recent position as Vice President of R&D at Biocept, Inc., Dr. Bhatt developed a non-invasive diagnostic test for fetal RhD genotyping from maternal blood, and a fetal gender-determination test from the mother's blood at 8-9 weeks gestation. He also invented and co-developed a novel device to capture and analyze circulating fetal cells (CFCs) and tumor cells (CTCs) in order to diagnose prenatal disorders and cancers, respectively. Dr. Bhatt has served as a member of the NIH Grant Review Board. 

Dr. Ranya Alexander, Ph.D., MD, Chief Operations Officer 

Dr. Alexander received his PhD. and MD from the University of California, Davis under Dr. E. Krebs (Nobel Laureate 1992). After completing residencies in Pediatrics at Yale University and also in Emergency Medicine from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Dr. Alexander went on to complete nueroendorinology fellowship training at the University of California, San Francisco. He is a former assistant professor of pediatrics at UCLA and Charles Drew Post Graduate Medical School. Dr. Alexander has served as San Diego Medical Director of Schaefer Ambulance Company and Associate Director of Sharp Rees-Steely Medical Group. He is currently serving as San Diego Regional Director of Partners Urgent Care. He is co-founder of the informational website Wellness.com. Dr. Alexander also has experience in clinical testing, consumer education, and marketing of cutting-edge scientific products.

Mr. Douglas Bennett, MBA

Since 2008 Doug has been President/CEO of Vertech Corp., a medical device firm. He has over 25 years of senior executive positions as President of 7 firms in diverse industries. He has extensive M&A experience with Shell Oil Co. and has been a leader in start ups through Fortune 500 firms. He was also co-founder/ President of California Energy, a geothermal firm that was eventually sold to Berkshire Hathaway. Throughout his business career his entrepreneurial spirit has led to success. Mr. Bennett has a  BS and MBA from the University of Arizona. In his spare time, Doug volunteers his time and resources to civic and church related endeavors.

Dr. Robert Y. Ning, Ph.D., MBA

Dr. Ning is currently the Vice President of Science and Business Development for King Lee Technologies (San Diego), where he developed a broad line of specialty chemicals for water treatment. He has also developed a large international network of expert distributors for service-membrane plants. Dr. Ning brings with him  25-year long career in the pharmaceutical industry. He has published numerous papers on organic and process chemistry.

Mr. Duane Linstrom, J.D., Corporate Counsel, Director of Strategic Business Development

A former associate of the biotechnology intellectual property law firm of Shanks & Herbert (later acquired by Reed Smith), Mr. Linstrom works with management on issues of securities, strategic development, transactional matters, and I.P. strategy.
